PRESTON, Minn. – A couple will spend 30 years on probation after pleading guilty to making methamphetamine in Fillmore County.
48-year-old Jeffery George Torgerson and 41-year-old Joan Elizabeth Torgerson were arrested on April 11 after a law enforcement search in the unincorporated town of Prosper, near the Iowa/Minnesota border. They were charged with 1st degree manufacture of meth, possession of meth precursors with intent to manufacture, 5th degree drug possession, storing meth waste products in the presence of a child and child endangerment.
They entered guilty pleas on September 12 to 1st degree manufacture of meth. Each were given 30 years of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $4,465.57 in restitution. They were also given 90 days in the Fillmore County Jail, with Jeffery Torgerson getting credit of 36 days already served and Joan Torgerson getting credit for 29 days.
Both received additional jail sentences of 30 days or less, but those may be deferred.
