ROCHESTER, Minn. – A teenager was arrested Wednesday for allegedly hitting a man with a tree branch.
Rochester police were called to Bear Creek Park around 2:39 pm. A 35-year-old man was drinking beer in the park when he was approached by a 17-year-old male who wanted some of the beer. The man reportedly refused and an argument began, which then allegedly led to the teen picking up a 3 foot long, 4 inch thick tree branch and hitting the man in the head.
When police arrived at the park, they say the 17-year-old took off and was apprehended after a foot chase. He was taken to juvenile detention and faces charges of 2nd degree assault and fleeing from authorities.
The 35-year-old man was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of a significant eye injury.
