OLMSTED CO., Minn. – Deputies are searching for a wanted man after he allegedly fled from authorities during a traffic stop on Thursday night.
Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, a deputy stopped 31-year-old Jasment Harper-Taylor on Highway 63 south of Rochester near the intersection of Quarve Road SE.
During the course of the stop, authorities learned Harper-Taylor had an active arrest warrant from the Wisconsin Department of Correction for a parole violation on a robbery conviction. When deputies re-approached the vehicle, Harper-Taylor physically resisted and was able to flee in the vehicle.
Deputies say he fled north on Highway 63 into downtown Rochester, where the pursuit stopped do to concern for the general public’s safety. The vehicle was later found in the median of Civic Center Drive NW near Sixth Avenue NW. A K9 track was attempted to locate him but was unsuccessful.
Harper-Taylor is now wanted for the arrest warrant in Wisconsin in addition to a charge of fleeing in a motor vehicle in Olmsted County. He is described as 6’2 and 180 pounds.
