UPDATE: Motorcycle rider killed in head-on crash identified

WABASHA CO, Minn – The motorcycle rider killed in the Sunday accident has been identified as 34-year-old Christopher R. Nelson of Eyota.


WABASHA CO., Minn. – One person was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash near Plainview.

The head-on crash happened on Highway 42 at 3:48 p.m.  According to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report, Josh D. Hanson was northbound in a 2011 Ford Edge when he collided with a southbound 2010 PT Cruieser and a southbound motorcycle.  The motorcycle rider, who hasn’t yet been identified, was killed.  The circumstances that led to the crash aren’t yet known, but alcohol was detected in Hanson’s system.

Hanson was injured and taken to St. Mary’s in Rochester.  The driver of the PT Cruiser, Kenneth Miller, 70, of Rochester, and his passenger, Bonnie Miller, suffered minor injuries.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Plainview police, fire and ambulance services, and Mayo One all responded to the scene.
