Alleged bicycle thieves arrested


MASON CITY, Iowa – Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing a bicycle from the Mason City Public Library.

21-year-old Cole Thomas Seglem of Forest City and 28-year-old Joseph Dean Andersen of Mason City were apprehended around 10 am Monday after police were notified of someone tampering with a bicycle in the library parking lot.  Officers say they found both men in the nearby area.

Seglem is charged with 4th degree theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Andersen is charged with 3rd degree theft.  Police say he assisted Seglem in stealing the bike but is facing a more severe charge due to prior theft convictions.

Both are being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $2,000 bond.
