MASON CITY, Iowa – The Mason City School Board took steps to start the search process to fill the superintendent position as current Superintendent Mike Pensa’s one-year contract nears the end.
The board unanimously approved a resolution to keep all applicants’ information confidential until finalists for the position have been presented. The board also approved hiring a firm, Grundmeyer Leader Search LLC, to aid in searching for candidates, especially in a short timeline.
“There are a number of legal things that we want to make sure we do correctly,” says School Board President Janna Arndt. “We think this firm can help us to that before we need to have the list of candidates on Jan. 18.”
Arndt says they hope to have the list of applicants from the firm by December.
