UPDATE: Main Street in Albert Lea now completely reopened after flood

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – All lanes of Highway 65 (Main Street) near Fountain Lake in Albert Lea are now open.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the eastbound lanes opened Tuesday and traffic resumed on the westbound lanes on Wednesday.  This section of the highway had been closed due to flooding after heavy rains on September 21 and 22.

This portion of Highway 65 was the last one in southern Minnesota to reopen after flooding.

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – The eastbound lanes of Highway 65 (Main Street) near Fountain Lake have been opened.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the westbound lanes remain closed Tuesday, with a detour in place of Garfield Avenue to East Front Street to South Broadway.  The westbound lanes are expected to reopen late Wednesday or on Thursday.

Highway 65 in Albert Lea is the only state highway in southeast Minnesota that is still closed due to flooding from the heavy rainfall of September 21 and 22.
