Winnebago Industry’s expansion project

FOREST CITY, Iowa- Winnebago Industries in Forest City announced a massive $500 million expansion Monday by acquiring Grand Design Towable RV’s in Middletown, Indiana.

Officials with Winnebago Industries say there will not be a change to the plant in Forest City, but the move will have a huge impact on Winnebago itself. By adding the 800 employee company to Winnebago’s nearly 3,000, they say they will generate around $1.5 billion a year.

“It expands our product line to be more of a full suite products and we think it balances out very well,” says Mike Happe, President and CEO of Winnebago Industries. “We are extremely excited. There’s a lot of benefits here to this transaction for Winnebago.”

Happe says the expansion will become official some time in early to mid November of this year.
