GARNER, Iowa – The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on a man who died in an apparent farm accident Monday.
46-year-old Julian Santos Martinez of Buffalo Center fell down an enclosed silo chute around 9 am at Branstad Farms, 3020 Highway 69, south of Forest City. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says evidence suggests Martinez accidentally fell from a height of 30 feet. This matter remains under investigation.
The Hancock County Medical Examiner’s Office, Forest City Ambulance Service, Forest City Fire Department, Forest City Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Mercy Air Life all assisted with this incident.
Branstad Farms is owned by Monroe ‘Monte’ Branstad, the brother of Iowa Governor Terry Branstad.
