UPDATE: Stephen Brodersen has been found guilty of third-degree sexual abuse.
The state rested its case late Wednesday afternoon. The defense called Brodersen himself to the stand and the jury was handed the case by noon. Deliberation took them an hour and 45 minutes. He will be sentenced on December 2 in Floyd County District Court.

CHARLES CITY, Iowa – Testimony is being presented Wednesday in an area courtroom.
Stephen Brodersen is accused of raping a woman in Floyd County. The alleged victim took the stand in the morning. She testified she was visiting him from Maine at the time the alleged crime was committed.
The alleged victim is the only person in the trial allowed to discuss certain details of Brodersen’s criminal past. In 1987, Brodersen killed his mother when he was just 18 years old. He was convicted and served 20 years in prison.
After his release he moved to Marble Rock. He’s currently on trial for third degree sexual abuse.
