ALFD open house is Saturday

ALBERT LEA, Minn.- Many fire departments in our area are hosting open houses within the next couple of weeks and Saturday is the Albert Lea Fire Department’s turn.

It’s their annual open house at their fire station where community members are able to see their boat rescue, vehicles and even ladder truck demonstrations.

The open house is a way for the firefighters to connect with the public.

”It’s been all positive feedback over the past few years,” said Lt. Al Schallock, Albert Lea Fire Department.  “The kids just love it and there is always a lot of good questions. A lot of people haven’t been up here much and some kids could do the tour themselves they’ve been up here so many times.”

Sparky the Fire Dog will also make an appearance.  The event is from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday. The public is welcome to attend.
