MASON CITY, Iowa – September’s jobs report wasn’t as strong as many predicted, but will seasonal hires help with that?
156,000 jobs were created in Iowa last month. Experts expected it to be closer to 170,000 but that may change as stores begin their seasonal hiring. Many retailers are looking for extra workers for the busy holiday season.
“Well, to let the public know we are hiring. It is seasonal time and everyone is looking for extra income. We’re hiring all positions morning, afternoon, evenings,” Jenn Dettman, Human Resources at Target in Mason City.
The unemployment rate went up slightly from 4.9 to five percent.
