MASON CITY, Iowa – Two people were arrested early Monday on drug charges in Mason City.
According to court documents, a Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle at the intersection of 14th Street SE and South Delaware Avenue around 1:39 am. 24-year-old Jacob Dean Ganseveld of Klemme and 26-year-old Bethany Raina Marie Karnes of Indianola were taken into custody.
The deputy says over five kilograms of a substance containing methamphetamine were found inside the vehicle, as well as a red pouch containing needles, plastic baggies and a drug scale. Karnes also allegedly had three pills of Latuda in her purse, without a prescription.
Ganseveld is charged with a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Karnes is accused of a controlled substance violation, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
Both were booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $25,000 bond.
