One-half of tax cheat couple sentenced

OWATONNA, Minn. – A Blooming Prairie woman gets probation for not filing her taxes.

41-year-old Sheridan Jo Tapp and her husband, 44-year-old Michael Ray Tapp, were charged in January with multiple counts of failing to pay sales and income taxes while they were owners of an Owatonna tanning salon between 2009 and 2012.

Sheridan Tapp pleaded guilty to one count of failure to file a tax return and was sentenced Monday to three years of supervised probation and ordered to pay $49,879 in restitution and perform 240 hours of community service.

Michael Tapp has also pled guilty to one count of failure to file a tax return.  His sentencing is scheduled for November 14.
