MASON CITY, Iowa – Crime Stoppers of North Central Iowa held the first-of-its-kind Community Impact event at Pizza Ranch on Tuesday, hoping to allow folks to come out and meet some of those who wear the badge locally while also raising funds for their nonprofit.
Those hosting the event say 20 percent of the proceeds Pizza Ranch makes from the event that lasted from 5 to 7 p.m. will go toward funding reward money for folks who give tips that lead to an arrest.
“We want the public be aware that you can make a phone call and leave a tip while remaining anonymous.” says Randy Martinson, vice president of Crime Stoppers of North Central Iowa. “It will help lead to a possible conviction or an arrest of an individual and help get North Iowa to be more of a safer place.”
Those who attended had a chance to see firsthand what the inside of a local law enforcement vehicle looks like as well as getting a badge of their own.
