Wanted man and woman arrested with handgun, drugs


ROCHESTER, Minn. – A wanted man and woman were arrested in Rochester on Wednesday after allegedly fleeing from officers.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. in a trailer park on Park Lane SE. The Street Crimes Unit was looking for a wanted felon, 28-year-old Edgar Barrientos, of Rochester, when they spotted him in a vehicle.

Officers attempted to block the suspect in and Barrientos reportedly revved his engine and took off before crashing into a trailer. Police say he ran and was tased.

Marina Garza, 30, also wanted on a warrant, was in the vehicle at the time. Police say her head hit the windshield in the crash but she was OK.

Officers found a loaded handgun on the driver’s seat along with marijuana and methamphetamine.

Barrientos could face charges of fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, being a felon in possession of a handgun and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
