Grain wagon accident in Floyd County

CHARLES CITY, Iowa – Some farm equipment smashed into a building Thursday morning.

The Charles City Police Department says 44-year-old Charles Staudt was driving a tractor and pulling two grain wagons east on Gilbert Street when the safety pin on the rear wagon broke around 7:30 am.  The wagon went into the westbound lanes before going off the road and crashing into a building in the 700 block of Gilbert Street.

Police says there was around $12,000 in damage to the wagon and the building.
