Clear Lake Police Department helps fingerprint kids

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa- Billion Ford Dealership held their safety event on Saturday. The Clear Lake Police Department participated in helping fingerprint kids, that would be kept in a child safety kit for parents.

Clear Lake Police Officer Eric Hythecker said since many children don’t usually have an I.D., the safety kit would be something parents would keep at home that holds their child’s personal information such as a photograph, fingerprint, and DNA.

If there was an emergency or a child went missing, parents would be able to provide law enforcement the kit for help.

“Anytime time your child is missing is probably the most stressful day of your life,” said Hythecker. “If you can pull out this safety kit and say, ‘Hey I got the information that will help you to put into a system or have something for searchers to have’, if there is a search team for example.”
