UPDATE: Mason City police say the victim of Tuesday night’s shooting was flown to a University of Iowa hospital for emergency treatment.
The shooting reportedly happened inside and outside the home. At this time, it isn’t believed to be a domestic violence case or an attempted murder.

MASON CITY, Iowa – Mason City police are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening.
According to authorities, multiple 911 calls were received at 7:25 p.m. from people reporting that shots had been fired. A witness tells KIMT News 3 that he heard three gunshots near the area of 9th Street Northwest and North Washington Avenue. Authorities responded and found an adult female with a gunshot wound. She was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in an unknown condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
