MASON CITY, Iowa – The number of those crossing the stage for graduation is only increasing.
One study shows Iowa is seeing it the most.
President Obama announced graduation rates are at an all-time high. Student graduation in Iowa is at 90.8 percent. Minnesota sees 80 to 85 percent.
Dan Long, High School Principal at Mason City Schools, says it’s not hard to convince kids to get that diploma.
“I think something that impresses me about our community, about the school here, is the mindset of kids that it’s an expectation. Part of that is why you see high graduation rates,” Long said.
U.S. graduation rate is 83.5 percent.
This is the 5th straight record-setting year in the U.S.
