Learning about trauma

MASON CITY, Iowa – For the next three days, two times a day, community members are coming together to learn more about trauma.

Monday’s focus is on business owners, human resource directors, and healthcare providers.  The goal is to grasp how traumatic events can impact a person’s thought process and behavior.  Director of Midwest Trauma Service Network, Frank Grijalva, pointed to absenteeism, poor job performance, and self-neglect can all be signs that something is happening.

“Now the HR of that business or company can say oh this is problematic, we’ve preformed this assessment and we now know there’s a referral resource, now we have some place to send those. a much more robust community,” Grijalva said.
