NORTHWOOD, Iowa- US Senator Joni Ernst was in Northwood today to meet with students at Northwood-Kensett High School as apart of her annual 99 county tour.
She talked about the 2016 election and stressed the importance of getting out to vote. She also discussed her time sitting down with the Republican Nominee, Donald Trump, when she was being considered for the VP position on the ticket. She explained she turned it down to stay in the senate.
Those with the school say it is important for the students to hear what the Iowa leader had to say.
“The chance for this leader to be with my students is a way that they could talk to someone who’s in Washington DC, in person, and hopefully learn what she has to say about her experience there,” says Northwood-Kensett Principal Keith Fritz.
Senator Ernst also meet with several city and county leaders to hear what they had to say.
