PINE ISLAND, Minn. – A program started to bring southern Minnesota communities closer together seems to be working.
On Wednesday, those with Journey to Growth, a five-year economic plan for our area, met to talk about what has been done so far.
Officials say three new businesses have opened up in the area, adding nearly 300 people to the workforce — but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
“We’ve had about 30 initiatives endorsed or completed Journey to Growth projects — what that means, some were spearheaded directly from our 10 committees, some we have endorsed as initiatives such as the TEDx conference that took place in Rochester,” said Heather Holmes with Journey to Growth.
The group also plans to launch a photography exhibit showing the diversity in our area — that’s expected to be on display in spring 2017.
