FOREST CITY, Iowa – A Winnebago County man is facing a drug charge after a traffic stop.
22-year-old David Richard Van Overbeke of Forest City was arrested on October 9 and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. A Forest City police officer stopped Van Overbeke’s vehicle for a non-working brake light.
After a K9 officer was called to the scene, Van Overbeke allegedly admitted having approximately one ounce of marijuana in his possession. Police say he had a backpack that contained a plastic baggie with a green leafy substance, a scale and a purple container with a leafy green substance inside.
Possession of marijuana with intent to deliver is a class “D” felony in Iowa, punishable by up to five years in prison.
