UPDATE: Name released in fatal crash near Rochester

UPDATE: According to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report, 26-year-old Nicholas Hamblin, of Byron, died in the head-on crash north of Rochester on Thursday evening.

Assisting agencies included the Olmsted and Wabasha County Sheriff’s Offices, Elgin Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.

OLMSTED CO., Minn. – The Minnesota State Patrol is on the scene of a deadly crash north of Rochester.

According to a report, the head-on crash happened on Highway 63 at mile post 50 at 7:32 p.m.  A 2008 Honda Civic was northbound, when the vehicle crossed the center line and hit a southbound 2003 Ford F-150.  The driver of the Honda, who has not yet been identified, was killed.  The two people in the pickup, 63-year-old Jerome Walch, and 56-year-old Julie Walch, both of Rochester, were hospitalized at St. Mary’s with non-life threatening injuries.
