MASON CITY, Iowa – Kiwanis Park, located on North Carolina Avenue, was apparently vandalized overnight on Thursday.
Those with Noon and River City Kiwanis clubs say they just planted four trees at the park and noticed Friday morning that all four were damaged, including two that looked like they were snapped in half. Two swings were also cut down.
“They broke off four trees, new ones, little ones. I don’t understand why people have to do that to public property, even private property,” Gary Lindgren, a club member said.
The park has been seeing improvements through a $100,000 project that started last year.
