GARNER, Iowa – A local courthouse may soon have a new security system to help ensure employees are safe while working.
In January, the Garner courthouse’s new insurance company suggested they put together a safety committee.
They did and employees came together with the idea of a new security system.
It will add more cameras, an electronic lock system for interior and exterior doors and glass at the service counters.
“We would just like to eliminate the eight. we have eight entrances that you can get into the courthouse with and we would just like to eliminate them to just two doors, one East, one West, and so everybody can still get into the courthouse,” says Shaun Hackman, Engineering Assistant.
No decision has been made yet. The safety committee will continue to get more estimates and report to supervisors.
