ROCHESTER, Minn.- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and today more than 100 people took strides against breast cancer.
KIMT News 3 is proud to sponsor the 8th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Rochester today.
Our own Katie Huinker and Raquel Hellman hosted the event that raises thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.
Organizers say the money raised provides money for those facing the disease.
“We’ve got road to recovery which is our transportation service so volunteers will take patients to and from their treatment if they can’t get a ride,” said David Lardinois, Community Manager of Special Events. “Sometimes you know if it is a two person household one of them needs to work so they can’t get a ride or they can’t take the other person there.
Survivors and those currently battling the disease were featured. Their goal this year is to raise $20,000.
Tune in to KIMT at 10 o’clock on Sunday to see how much money was raised.
