UPDATE: The boil advisory for the city of Cresco has been lifted. It is no longer necessary to boil water before use.
UPDATE 8 a.m.: The cause of Cresco’s water system issue has been identified as a main break.
Crews are in the process of repairing it and residents are asked to conserve water until noon. The boil advisory is still in effect until further notice.
CRESCO, Iowa – A water advisory has been put in place for the city of Cresco.
City officials say crews have been out since midnight Monday investigating the issue after being alerted of the problem when the city’s water alarm went off.
Residents are advised to boil their water or use an alternative source and to use water sparingly.
The advisory is in place until further notice.
