AUSTIN, Minn.- Students at Woodson Kindergarten Center got a chance to see sparky the fire dog in their classroom today.
It’s all a part of the Austin Fire Department’s efforts to teach students about fire safety. They are sharing some safety tips and hopefully give students a better understanding about the dangers of fire.
This event also gives the students an opportunity to see that firefighters are real people under all their gear.
“Sometimes young children can be concerned if they were to see a firefighter in all their gear,” said Ellen Verdoorn, Woodson Kindergarten Center. “He’s able to let them see it’s him before it starts which helps the children know that they are safe.”
