ROCHESTER, Minn. – An Olmsted County Adult Detention Center inmate is facing an additional charge after reportedly assaulting a deputy.

Olmsted County officials said Wednesday that 37-year-old Malik Johnson, already in custody for other charges, is now facing a charge of fourth-degree assault.

On Oct. 18, authorities say Johnson walked up to a detention deputy and unprovoked, started punching him in the face and body. The deputy was taken to the hospital and released and he was off work until Wednesday.
