CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – A semi fire closed a highway exit Wednesday morning in North Iowa.
The Clear Lake Fire Department says it happened around 7 am on the southbound 190 exit off Interstate 35. When firefighters arrived, they found the semi cab completely on fire and though the flames were contained within five minutes, the semi was a total loss.
Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes, making sure all the hot spots were extinguished, and the exit was closed all that time.
Two pumper trucks, one command vehicle and nine firefighters handled this blaze, with the assistance of the Iowa State Patrol.
