CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – The former District 619 restaurant building is currently under construction to become a new rock and roll-themed restaurant that ties in better with the Surf Ballroom.
The new restaurant will be called Surf District Rock ‘n’ Roll Grill.
Surf Ballroom executive director Laurie Lietz said there is no change in ownership — there has just been an agreement with the Surf Ballroom and the restaurant to showcase some artifacts.
“They’ve had a unique idea to have a rock and roll-themed dining experience in Clear Lake, and what a great opportunity for us to be part of,” said Lietz. “We have extra artifacts memorabilia in storage and they have a re-branding project.”
Lietz said right now the restaurant is being remodeled inside and will have some tie-ins to the Surf Ballroom. She said the restaurant could be open for business in December.
