Gov. Dayton is trying to make MNsure more affordable

ALBERT LEA, Minn.- Governor Mark Dayton is trying to make improvements to the state’s healthcare plan.

According to Dayton, MNsure is causing financial problems for many families throughout the state. He’s now trying to provide a 25% rebate on monthly premiums to residents who purchase health insurance on the individual market in 2017.

He’s also trying to reduce rate increases from 55% to 16%.

State Representative Peggy Bennett agrees that something needs to be done to help the people of Minnesota afford health insurance.

“When people are hurting, that gets me so passionate because it’s not right and government is all about the people,” said Bennett. “So when the government is the cause of hurting people, that really cuts you right to the heart.”

MNsure open enrollment starts November 1st.
