KIMT News 3 – If you’re headed to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, you’re bound to see a sign with Justin Huckins photos when driving toward the entrance.
Huckins’ parents filed a lawsuit against the organization in September. His family claims Justin fell and hit his head in April. Moments later they say he starting to have seizures.
After his father arrived on scene, an ambulance was called and Justin went through several surgeries for a brain bleed lasting three hours. He died in May. Huckins’ family claims the staff was negligent when it came to helping him that day and family friend, Erica Pischel, is trying to get the word out about what happened to Justin.
“Anyone who drives in town to Opportunity Village is going to see that sign and going to know that he deserves justice for him,” Pischel said.
Justin was 22 when he died.
We reached out to CEO Jeff Nicholas with Opportunity Village and received no response.
