Area hospitals making the safety grade

 KIMT News 3 – A health organization is releasing whether hospitals are making the grade when it comes to safety.  The Leapfrog Group is out with a nationwide list of medical facilities, including local and regional hospitals. Here’s a look at how some of our area hospitals scored.  Topping the list, Mayo Clinic’s Saint Mary’s and Methodist campuses both received an “A.”     Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa received a “B”.    Albert Lea Medical Center also received a “B.”  The group scored University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with a “C.”   Also regionally, Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines and West Lakes campuses both received a “D” for patient safety.  Overall Minnesota ranked 11th in the nation, and Iowa came in 29th.     For a complete look at the scorecard, go to http://www.hospitalsafetygrade.org/.
