NORTHWOOD, Iowa – Worth and Mitchell Counties are making preparations for a joint natural gas pipeline.
The Boards of Supervisors discussed two early engineering proposals. The gas line will run in the middle of Worth County starting southwest of Joice ending in St. Ansgar.
Supervisors say they’re working through the concerns to move forward with the project.
“The question of ownership and the question of how financing will occur. Both counties are looking at tax increment financing and we’re going to move forward with asking that the Iowa Farm Bureau and Iowa State university come up and give us their perspective on the do’s and don’ts,” says Merlin Bartz, Worth County Supervisor.

The supervisors will be contacting Black Hills Energy and Dakota Montana Utilities to get more details about the proposals and are scheduled to have a joint meeting on January 24th.
