Austin woman says man asked for help, then showed her an obscene video

AUSTIN, Minn. – A Mower County woman says she tried to be a good Samaritan and got more than she bargained for.

The woman told Austin police that a man came to her home in the 900 block of 4th Avenue Northeast just before midnight on Sunday, asking for jumper cables because he said his car had a dead battery.  The woman said he didn’t have any jumper cables and the man left.

He returned three times, however.  The first was to ask for a phone book to call a towing company.  The second was to thank the woman.  The third time, he passed the woman his phone through her screen door, supposedly to show her what had happened to his car.  When the woman took the phone, though, she says it was playing a sexually explicit video.  She says she slammed the door on him, but after she returned his phone.

The woman reported the incident on Monday and Austin police describe the suspect as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s with short dark hair and a medium build.  He possibly has some missing teeth or decay on his lower jaw and was wearing blue jeans, a gray jacket and a baseball cap.

Police say the towing company did not receive any call in this incident.  Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 507-437-9400 or use the Tip411 app.
