KIMT News 3 – The man suspected of shooting and killing two Des Moines area police officers overnight was arrested on an OWI charge in North Iowa back in 2010.
It happened on Feb. 16 of that year. Those with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office say 46-year-old Scott Michael Greene was pulled over by local Iowa State Patrol. The charge was later dismissed.
According to a criminal complaint from a 2014 arrest in Polk County for a charge of interference with official acts, Greene has exhibited behavior that could be seen as combative in the past. According to the complaint, he “knowingly resisted officers’ verbal commands” to allow a pat-down for weapons. He was reportedly known to go armed and had an unknown pouch on his belt that “resembled the bottom of a holster.”
One hundred and thirteen police officers have been killed this year nationally in the line of duty, according to preliminary data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
