CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – A Texas woman is in jail after allegedly passing a counterfeit bill at a North Iowa convenience store.
Police were called to Pilot Travel Center in Clear Lake on Monday and employees reported a female used a phony $50 bill to make a purchase. They said the woman then left in a vehicle with a group of people.
Iowa State Patrol troopers located the vehicle on Interstate 35, near mile marker 144 south of Clear Lake. They stopped the vehicle and 22-year-old Kiaira Fante-earlin Szarwark from Houston was arrested for forgery.
