MASON CITY, Iowa- Mason City, Newman, and Mason City Intermediate Juniors who are part of the YIELD program are working to try and create blankets for local foster kids.
Right now the group is asking for monetary or fabric donations, which you can bring to the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, that will be used to help make 120 blankets.
“North Iowa is very cold in the winter, so having something that’s made by kids their age or close to their age is kind of comforting around Christmas,” says Andrew Morse, a Junior and Newman Catholic. “40 of them are going to Francis Lauer, about 30 to 4 Oaks and the rest to kids around foster systems.”
They hope to raise enough money and donations by November 16, but will be accepting donations until the end of the month.
