ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Rochester man faces several charges after allegedly threatening and pulling a knife on another man.
It happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday in an apartment in building in the 500 block of North Broadway Avenue. A 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were visiting someone and using a microwave in the commons area when 51-year-old Kurt Meiners approached them.
He reportedly appeared to be drunk and confronted them, making sexual comments toward the 16-year-old.
The two went back to the apartment and met with a 20-year-old man who knows Meiners. They went to his door and when Meiners opened it, he reportedly pulled a knife on the 21-year-old, held it above his head and threatened to kill him.
The 21-year-old backed up down the hallway and the suspect followed, still making threats. The other two men were also in the hallway at the time, taking video of the incident with their cellphones before getting back to the apartment to call the police.
Meiners was later arrested and charged with second- and fifth-degree assault as well as making terroristic threats.
