CERRO GORDO CO., Iowa – Both drivers were transported and their cars declared a total loss after a crash on Highway 65 and 150th St. on Monday morning.
It happened around 6:45 a.m. According to a news release from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, a 1991 white Chevy Camaro driven by 18-year-old Austin Busma, of Hampton, was headed north on the highway, approaching the 150th St. intersection. A 2002 green Ford Taurus driven by 56-year-old Greg Post, of Mason City, was headed west on 150th St. and entered the intersection, crashing into the Camaro.
Post was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa with minor injuries, and Busma was privately transported there as well.
Post was ticketed for failure to obey a traffic control device. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and the air bag deployed in Busma’s car.
Both cars are considered a total loss.
Assisting at the scene were Rockwell/Swaledale EMTs and Mason City fire medics.
