AUSTIN, MN- Riverland Community College in Austin already has a popular Agriculture program, but on Monday they announced they will be expanding it.
The president of the community college says with the help of the Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture they will be looking to start a multimillion dollar expansion. They say they have already asked the state for bonds for the 2018 legislative session. School leaders are also asking for donors and partners to help fund a $5.5 million project to construct another building.
“What we are trying to do is get students interested in science and technology,” says President Dr. Adenoma Atewologun. “That will head in the same direction as American agriculture and the food industry.”
He say this will create more opportunities for folks looking to learn about the science of agriculture such as soil scientists, agronomists and other various food industry jobs.
