CHARLES CITY, Iowa – Monday and Tuesday, leaders in Floyd County will be voting on whether to build a new law enforcement center.
Roy Schwickerath, a Floyd County Supervisor, says he’d love to see the center built right near the courthouse. The goal is to join the sheriff’s office with the police department.
“It’s a good opportunity if we can get all the law enforcement under one roof. We’re going to either save money for the tax payers, which is a possibility, or give better services to the tax payers,” Schwickerath said.
If approved, costs for the first phase of the project will be split between the county and city. The Charles City City Council will vote on the contract Monday night. Floyd County Supervisors will vote Tuesday.
