Austin man pleads not guilty to assault/burglary

AUSTIN, Minn. – A Mower County man accused of attacking someone and stealing some illegal drugs pleads not guilty.

28-year-old Matthew Jack Clennon of Austin is charged with 2nd degree assault, 1st degree burglary, 1st degree aggravated robbery and theft.  He was arrested on September 24 after an alleged incident in the 600 block of Main Street in Austin.

Clennon allegedly entered the victim’s apartment, struck him with a pellet gun and stole a bag containing LSD, THC wax and Adderall.  Clennon reportedly told authorities he was fighting with the victim when they crashed through the bedroom door and Clennon’s gun fell out of his pocket.  He also denied taking any of the victim’s property, legal or otherwise.

Clennon entered not guilty pleas Tuesday morning.
