OSAGE, Iowa – There are two candidates eyeing to become the next state representative for Iowa’s 51st district, Jane Bloomingdale and Tim Hejhal.
Bloomingdale is the current mayor of Northwood and Hejhal is the principal of Osage High School. Both are running for state representative for the first time.
Josh Byrnes is asking whoever wins to keep their constituents in mind.
“First and foremost it’s got to be the constituents; it’s got to be about the voters that put you down there. If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t be doing it. I think sometimes too much of that happens — these people get down there and they forget about where they come from,” Byrnes said.
Byrnes was elected in 2010. His term ends this January.
