HAMPTON, Iowa – A Cerro Gordo County man accused of kidnapping and torturing a woman has entered a not guilty plea.

Charles Albright, 41, of Meservey, is charged with kidnapping and willful injury.  On Tuesday, he entered a written plea of not guilty.  His next court date has not been set.

On October 7, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a 36-year-old woman who claimed Albright held her captive for several hours, during which he hit, punched, stomped, cut her with a knife, used a Taser on her and allowed his dog to bite her.  She says he dropped her off in Sheffield, where she called authorities from the Dollar General Store.

Albright was arrested on October 18 in rural Rockwell.
