ROCHESTER, Minn. – When veterans drive to Rochester Community and Technical College, they will have a new place to park.
Officials at the community college held an event on Thursday to show off their new veterans and superheroes parking spot. We are told not only will the spot be for vets, but also members of the police department, fire department and EMTs. And for RCTC, this goes along with their history of helping our heroes.
“We serve a good number of veterans — we serve them when they come right out of the service, some are in the reserves so they are going to college and in service, and some that are in the midst of their career change,” said Mary Davenport, interim RCTC president.
Thursday’s event had added significance on the U.S. Marine Corps’ birthday and the eve of Veterans Day. RCTC is the first college among Minnesota State colleges and universities to create such parking.
We are told the goal is to have 32 of these spots in the near future.
