Students take a historic tour

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – Some local students got the opportunity to learn about historic buildings in Southern Minnesota by seeing them up close.

Waldorf University in Forest City and the Heritage Preservation Committee in Albert Lea wanted to teach students about preservation.

They toured Freeborn County Bank, historic apartments and the Nasty Habit Bar.

“I think a lot of what we’re trying to educate them on is that it’s important to save the buildings, it’s important to see details, spread that knowledge that may not be there in it anymore. A lot of people do not realize that we learn from the past,” says Brad Kirchner, Heritage Preservation Committee Chair.

Albert Lea will be holding a preservation conference next September.
